The TX-NR535 is very affordable home theater receiver (less than $500) that offers solid audio capabilities, while incorporating some of the advanced features needed for today's digital and streaming content sources.
Starting with its core audio features, the TX-NR535 provides up to a 5.2 channel speaker configuration with 65wpc (measured with 2-channels driven at 8 ohms from 20Hz to 20KHz .7% THD). On-board decoding for most Dolby and DTS audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
On the video side, the TX-NR535 includes 3D and 4K (up to 60fps) pass-through, via six HDMI ver 2.0 inputs and one HDMI output. However, the TX-NR535 does not provide analog-to-HDMI video conversion, or 1080p/4K video upscaling.

Also, for those that own older home theater components, it must be noted that the TX-NR535 does not provide a phono turntable input, 5.1 channel analog audio inputs, 5.1 channel preamp outputs, or S-Video inputs.
On the other hand, the modestly-priced TX-NR535 provides access to several Internet radio and music streaming services, such as Pandora, Spotify, Sirius/XM, Slacker, Aupeo!, and Tune-in), as well as access to media files (including Hi-Res audio files, such as DSD, Double DSD, Flac, and ALAC) streamed from connected PCs and media servers via DLNA compatibility. Also, this receiver incorporates built-in Wifi and Bluetooth for more convenient connection to your router and compatible portable devices.
For ease of control, you can take advantage of the free iOS or Android apps for compatible smartphones and tablets, in addition to the already-included wireless remote.
